Pricing & Rates
Let's Talk About Pricing
Finding out what live sound services cost can be surprisingly difficult. Many companies won't give you even a rough number without a phone call, a venue visit, and three emails.
I'd rather be straightforward.
Every event is different, but here's a realistic idea of what things generally cost.

Weddings
I specialize in ceremonies and live acoustic performances rather than DJ-style dance events.
String quartets, harpists, vocalists, jazz ensembles, ceremony microphones, outdoor acoustics, and difficult listening environments are where careful audio work makes the biggest difference.
Most wedding ceremony packages fall between:
$1,000–$2,000
depending on location, equipment requirements, and complexity.

Small Events & Basic Audio
For a simple setup—such as a wedding ceremony, acoustic performance, small community event, speech reinforcement, or similar—you can generally expect pricing to start around:
$800–$1,200
That typically includes:
-
A pair of speakers
-
Several microphones
-
Basic setup and testing
-
Live sound operation during the event
-
Setup and teardown
Most events in this category involve roughly 3–4 hours of total work, including preparation, setup, operation, and teardown.

Additional Time
If you simply need me on-site longer, my labour rate is approximately:
$100/hour
That covers my time and expertise.
Additional equipment, travel, recording services, or specialized requirements may increase the final price.

What Increases Cost?
The biggest factors are:
-
Event duration
-
Number of performers
-
Number of microphones
-
Recording requirements
-
Outdoor venues
-
Difficult load-in conditions
-
Remote locations
-
Complex monitor mixes
-
MC or presentation support
In general, more equipment and more complexity means more setup time and more labour.

Recording Services
If you'd like your event professionally recorded, multitrack recording can usually be added to most events.
Pricing varies depending on channel count and post-production requirements, but recording packages typically begin around:
$250–$500
Larger Productions
If you're planning a larger outdoor event, multiple performers, a full jazz orchestra, extensive microphone coverage, recording, announcements, and all-day technical support, costs can increase substantially.
Large productions typically range between:
$2,500–$5,000+
depending on scale.

Community Groups & Non-Profits
I strongly believe that community music and arts organizations are important.
For volunteer organizations, community groups, and non-profits, I offer flexible pricing whenever possible.
In some cases, reduced rates may be available in exchange for sponsorship recognition, event signage, promotional opportunities, or other mutually beneficial arrangements.
If budget is a concern, reach out. I'd rather have a conversation than see a good event go without sound support.

Minimum Booking
Because of travel, setup, and equipment preparation, the minimum booking is generally:
$300
This helps cover transportation, setup time, and equipment costs even for smaller events.
